The last 7 days before D Day…

IT’S DONE!!!!!!
It’s a done deed!! I’m super duper happy & relieved. It’s. All. Over.
Current status: at my work desk, typing this away, waiting for the time I can get off work so I can watch The Trocks (or Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo) at the Esplanade this evening. And then ballet tomorrow, and I’ll watch Shakespeare On The Park this Saturday. Yes I’m back to my normal life…. YEAAAAHhhh…
So… I’m torn between documenting my memories of that one week leading to D day or let them stay in my mind alone…
But then again I’ll be providing feedback to some vendors and so in a way I’ll be writing down my thoughts and feelings too. So may as well record them here huh?
Chronological rundown:
21 April: It’s Robby’s birthday but we hardly celebrated it. All I did was bought him a small (but very good) slice of cheesecake from Cedele bakery depot. He couldn’t even blow the candle properly because we have neither matchsticks nor lighter at home. Ha! Later that evening we flew off to Jakarta and I spent hours finalizing this and that for the Chinese Betrothal the next day. Not much sleep.
22 April: Sangjitan / Seserahan / Guo Da Li / Betrothal day! People came, people went. Hectic and chaotic are how I’d describe the day. At the end of it all I felt overwhelmed and needed some time to calm down alone. Geez. Just a few hours in Jakarta, just one night. And it seemed to be proving too much already. But then I felt much much calmer afterwards.

23 April: Technical Meeting at Kembang Goela. Which… went okay. Changed some details at the last minute and I liked how Karen from our WO team handled everything. I was also relieved that the Chicken & Mutton Satays, Kambing Guling (roast mutton) and Pempek coming from external sources passed the restaurant’s food testing.
24 April: Dress & Suit final fitting; Community Pre-wedding Mass. The fitting went well, and Robby surprised me with an all-white suit! So he had everything all planned, that sneaky boy. But I’m very glad he went ahead to have it done because I know how much he wanted to be in all white for the church wedding. If he were to check with me first, the cautious me would most likely say no because that’s additional cost, and time was running out, and etc etc… Had a migraine on the way back cos of the heat and so I took a short nap at home before the mass began. The mass itself was nice, though I hardly knew anyone. =p

25 April: Church Rehearsal. Was a rather quiet day, spent it working on some other details at home before we went for the rehearsal in the evening. The rehearsal itself went smoothly, and we finally met face to face with Ibu Lelly who helped us organize many things for the Holy Matrimony itself.
26 April: Relatives coming from Germany! So we went early in the morning to pick them up at the airport and then to my maternal grandparents’ place for lunch right away. Later that day we went to pick up the wedding rings and my dress. Robby also passed me our souvenirs and so my family helped with tying the thank you cards to the souvenirs. All done in a couple of hours. Definitely nice to have a few pairs of helping hands!
27 April: It’s the Eve!! My bridesmaid Diana came over in the afternoon. Next the plan was to pick up flowers & some other things from Robby and bring some things to his place. But it took forever for the flowers to come, and then even longer for the ties… which never come that night anyway… So in the end Robby and bestman Daniel came over past 10PM to my place instead! No way did we bother to follow any kind of confinement – way too impractical. After this Robby still had a long night ahead of him while mine was pretty much done with the English translation of the mass booklet. Tried to sleep. Obviously couldn’t sleep. I think I managed to get some 3 hours of sleep before my alarm went off though… and… D day was finally here!!
And that’s what happened in those last 7 days leading to D Day…
